The comments were delivered as CATL’s second regional plant for cell manufacturing is about to begin operation in the second half of 2025 in Debrecen, a town located in eastern-Hungary and home to a car plant owned by BMW, one of CATL’s big clients. The world’s largest battery supplier recycled a total of 100,000 tons of waste batteries last year and currently has a capacity to process 270,000 tons of them, chief executive Robin Zeng said in September.
