To say that James Cameron hasn't won himself many friends with his recent comments about Wonder Womanwould be Anticipationsomething of an understatement.

On Thursday evening, The Guardianpublished an interview with Cameron in which he described Wonder Womanas "a step backwards".

"All the self-congratulatory back-patting Hollywood's been doing over Wonder Womanhas been so misguided," he said. "She's an objectified icon, and it's just male Hollywood doing the same old thing.

"I'm not saying I didn't like the movie but, to me, it's a step backwards."

Unsurprisingly, plenty of people had some things to say about that.

A few hours after the interview began doing the rounds, Wonder Womandirector Patty Jenkins waded into the debate.

It might be time to back away from this one, Cameron.
